DEZIGN
I don’t know about you, but I am ready for 2020 to end. As we get closer to the new year, we approach the most wonderful time of the year… my birthday oh and Christmas, I guess. To try and spread a little bit of cheer I have put together 5 Beautiful Holiday Decorating Ideas to brighten up your home during christmas.
Nothings brings Christmas spirit like the
smell of a real Christmas tree. But, there is also nothing messier. People have
opted out the traditional real tree for a fake one that can
be re-used every year. In recent years, we
have seen more people choose to buy trees of different colours to add a pop of
colour in their living rooms. There are many new options out there. You
can bring the outside in and getting inspired by House
Beautiful with a white tree. This bright tree will make your ornaments pop and stand out. For
something more unique you can find pink or even black trees to give your space
and edgier look.
Holiday colours for table settings
When decorating a dining room or living room table for the holidays, I like my centrepieces to have height and volume. A traditional centrepiece would include pine cones and branches. While these items are festive, I prefer to give my dining table a more modern look by using bare branches and hanging accents such as snowflakes. Another newer design is cones and pyramid shapes to represent small trees. These beautiful pieces found at any home decor location combined with table runners give your dining room a pop of colour. A dark table runner can be combine with a gold 12-inch spiral tree to give your space, what I like to call, a festive edge.
It is very easy to take holiday decorations a
little bit too far. Adding too many bright
colours in your space can make your living room look tacky and overwhelm the
space. The key is to use the correct colours in your design to draw
attention to specific pieces. For a darker, modern space you may want to opt
for bright neutrals such as white, beige and light grey. These softer shades will give our space a warm and
clean look that can emphasize your decorated Christmas tree. It can be
as simple as changing the pillows on your couch.
This design idea is one of my personal
favourites because it involves chocolate! Clear a space in your kitchen and set
up a hot chocolate station for the holidays. Place
a kettle near a box filled with hot chocolate packets and little baggies of
marshmallows. You can also use mason
jars to store your favourite hot chocolate powder and tinny marshmallows.
This cute idea is perfect to keep you warm on these cold winter nights.
Remember, at this point calories don’t count till January 1st so make sure your
clear a lot of space.
For those that live in the city, it can be hard to find the space to decorate. If you’re living in a one-bedroom apartment your space is very limited. To keep with the Christmas spirit, you can decorate your balcony using string lights wrapped around the perimeter. These lights found in any hardware store near you. can spread Christmas cheer to anyone passing by.
