Living in a pandemic is the perfect time to spruce up your living space and get some change happening in your life. 2020 has been an interesting year so far, so much has already happened that has changed our world. But it’s never too late to change things up with your interior décor. It can be hard to find an aesthetic that works for you and keeps your home looking nice and trendy.
Lucky for you, I have here the best interior design trends 2020 has to offer to make your lives a little bit easier. Whether you want to add more patterns and textures or keep it simple, you'll find inspiration here.
Below are 4 different design trends in 2020 that will help you make a change to your living space and reignite your love for your home.
Now, I know what you must be thinking, isn’t floral wall paper an outdated look our grandparents used to have? While you have a point, this vibrant and colourful pattern is now making a comeback. When I say floral, I am not talking about drab and boring lavender sequence on a beige backdrop you find in your great aunt's basement. Modern floral patterns can make a statement in an otherwise monochromatic setting. Adding a pop of colour on the wall can have a big impact on the feeling you get when you step into a room. Not yet convinced? No problem! There are so many options for removable wall paper that you can try out before fully committing. Check out for some of my favourite removable wall paper designs at Rocky Mountain.
Another one of my favourite design trends of 2020 that I am seeing make a comeback is slender wood paneling. This materiel can be added to warm up any room. When applied, it can set the tone for the entire space. Angled panels in a neutral room can give it a fresh new look without overwhelming the space. Darker panels can give a room that calming cottage feel. Wood panels can be just what you need to change up the scenery and bring new warmth into your home.
The colour combinations are endless for this very exciting concept. You can have dark walls with light accent furniture pieces or vice versa. I don’t mean go out and buy 5 cans of black paint and live like the Adams family. But, applying this high contrast concept in moderation can change the entire mood of a room. Recently, people are steering away from the white on white we are so accustomed to. It can be as easy as incorporating Pantone's Colour of the year 2020, classic blue in furniture and balancing it with white accent features. Any piece of furniture with complimentary opposing colours can be used. These ideas add interesting contrast in an otherwise dull room.
This one comes as no surprise. As our lives seem more integrated then ever before, with many rooms all in one space, one can feel a bit overwhelmed. A new trend I can get behind is
concealing your kitchen appliances to give your space a more elevated,
cohesive look. This also plays well if you enjoy a minimalist interior design style. This ingenious style hides clutter behind cabinet doors and gives kitchens everywhere a sleeker look envied by many.
With all this time spent cooped up at home, applying one of these design trends is what you need to change things up. There is something for everyone so make sure you bookmark this page and share it with friends and family. For more design trends check out Lockhart Design and Apartment Therapy
